Strengthening Pre-School Education through ICDS

A pilot programme was undertaken in November'99 by World Food Programme (WFP) to strengthen the pre- school component of ICDS in collaboration with UNESCO and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh in about 429 ICDS centres in the three blocks of Dhar district. In this programme we were involved as a resource organisation to design an appropriate training programme and a pre-school kit for Anganwadi workers, and also for monitoring and evaluating the pilot. The result was so positive that soon there were demands for replication of the pilot to other districts and states.
